Major
Vaquero Major Vaquero is a proven show horse with over $26,000 in NRHA earnings. This talented NRHA World Champion was purchased in October 2002 by Dell Hendricks and Tom McCutcheon from Bob Stinner of Ocala, Florida. He will stand the 2007 season at Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses. Both Dell and Tom are excited about showing foals by Major Vaquero. "He was bred to only a handful of mares in the past so there have been just a limited number of colts. Even with that small number, there have been some that have gone and done a lot. Like him, they've been big, freaky stoppers," commented Dell. The most successful, to date, has been Paps Major Dad, a horse with earnings of over $50,000 that Tom McCutcheon rode to an NRHA Futurity Finals slot and an NRHA Derby Reserve Championship. Sparkling Major is also another successful son, a NRHA Futurity Finalist with over $35,000 in NRHA Earnings. Of the few horses that have shown in NRHA competition, Major Vaquero has already sired earners of $265,000. Besides his enormous stop, Major Vaquero is known for his longevity in the show ring. Now 16, he was first shown in 1992. Ten years later, in Gainesville, Florida, he won an NRHA reining! McCutcheon and Hendricks see Major Vaquero as a great outcross on some of the more modern-bred mares in the reining industry. Click
