Dell Hendricks of Pilot Point, TX, was named United States Equestrian Team (USET) Athlete of the Month for December following his victory at the NRHA World Championship Futurity for three year olds, held November 26 through December 4 in Oklahoma City.

Hendricks rode Hollywood Vintage, owned by Alan and Kay Needles of Orange, California, to the $100,000 Futurity title at the NRHA World Championship Futurity. Over 411 open entries competed from all over the US and eight foreign countries.

Dell bred Hollywood Vintage, a son of Hollywood Dun It, the all time leading sire of reining horse money earners, but sold him to Tim McQuay when he was a week old . "Tim started him and rode him as a two year old, then let me get him back."

On June 27, Hendricks placed sixth on Hangten Peppy, owned by Belle Carpenter and Hendricks in the $100,000 Cosequin USET Reining Championship, presented by Bayer, at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions.

This was the first year reining was included at the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions since it was adopted as the USET's sixth discipline in 1998. He was also the 1999 NRHA Derby USET Semi-Finals Champion.
