In just a few years, Hendricks Reining Horses has become known as a performance center for reining horses. With National Reining Horse Association Million Dollar Rider, Dell Hendricks, at the helm, the Tioga, Texas operation has logged success after success.
The operation has also established itself as a premier breeding center, and nowhere was that more evident than at the 2005 National Reining Horse Futurity, when Dun It In The Bay became the highest-ever selling filly at the NRHA Futurity Prospect Sale, going for $143,000. By Hendricks sire Starlights Wrangler, the Dave Silva-owned filly was out of Cee Dun It Do It by Hollywood Dun It and purchased by Manntana Quarter Horses of Montana.
The high value for Starlights Wrangler foals was consistent throughout 2005, as eight of them sold during the year for an average of $35,000.
Starlights Wrangler is the senior stallion in the Hendricks lineup and is a National Reining Breeders Classic Champion. With Lifetime Earnings over $126,000, he is the highest money-earning son of Grays Starlight (X NCHA Open Futurity Finalist Wranglers Connie). Owned by Hendricks Broten Equine Assets, “Wrangler” is a USET Festival of Champions Reserve Champion, NRHA Futurity and Derby Open Finalist.
From the sale pen to the show pen, the impact of the Starlight Wrangler foals is substantial. His first colt crops hit the show pens in 2004 and 2005 and earned multiple futurity championships, and Dun It By Starlight, was ridden by Sally Broten to win the 2005 NRHA Non Pro Derby Reserve Championship! Mega Starlight, a 4-year-old mare by Starlights Wrangler, has won eight classes in 2005 in Non Pro competition for owner Jim Hendricks.
Starlights Wrangler is joined by an exemplary group of stallions standing at Hendricks Reining Horses. With over $423,000 in earnings, the four stallions that reside at Hendricks Reining Horses represent the true blue blood of the reining world.

Ten-year-old Dunnit In Hollywood (Hollywood Dun It X Positivio Lena) is a dynamic and proven show horse with an outstanding pedigree. Owned by Dell Hendricks & Anne Craig, he was the 2002 AQHA Senior Reining Reserve World Champion, the same year Dell rode him to Gold in USET Nations Cup competition. With lifetime earnings exceeding $50,000, Dunnit In Hollywood is a bright star in the reining horse world.
Dunnit In Hollywood has, in Dell Hendricks’ words, “the best conformation of any of the sons of Hollywood Dun It. He’s siring pretty-headed foals that can only be stars in the show pen.”
His first colts were shown in 2004, and quickly proved to be good-minded athletes like their sire. Dunnit So Pretty was the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Intermediate Non Pro Reserve Champion, then went on to become an NRHA Futurity Intermediate Non Pro Futurity Finalist for owner, Kim Dooley.
A special “Breed for Free” promotion makes it appealing to bring performing and producing mares to Dunnit In Hollywood’s court. If a mare has lifetime earnings of $15,000 or more or has produced foals with earnings of $15,000 or more, she can be bred to Dunnit In Hollywood for Free. (The only fees involved are a $500 chute fee and any shipped semen or mare care fees.)

Hit The Lights is the second of the Hendricks Reining Horse stallions that was an NRBC Open Champion son of Grays Starlight (X Playboys Promise). The seven-year-old sorrel is owned by Adair Reiners, LLC, of Mesa, Arizona. In 2002, Dell Hendricks rode this talented athlete to the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Championship. Hit The Lights has also been a NRHA Futurity Finalist, NRBC Finalist, and NRHA Derby Finalist with Hendricks at the reins before winning the NRBC in 2005. He finished his show career with over $112,000 in lifetime earnings and his first babies will hit the show pen in 2007.
“Hit The Lights is a great athlete, strong and powerful,” noted Hendricks. He continued, “He’s also a great breeding value considering what he’s done winning-wise and his $1500 stud fee.”
Like Dunnit In Hollywood, there is a “Breed for Free” program for Hit The Lights for mares with at least $25,000 in earnings or production
The 2000 gray stallion, Starbucks Sidekick, won many major titles, including the 2003 Congress Open Reining Futurity and the 2005 NRHA Open Derby Reserve Championship, and he has been a finalist every time shown. Owned by Adair Reiners, LLC, Starbucks Sidekick is blending his show career and a breeding career and his earnings already exceed $131,000.

Hendricks noted, “Starbucks Sidekick is awesome-minded, with a big heart and that flashy gray color. Out of a 3-foal test crop, one foal was gray. He’s also a great value for his $1500 stud fee. His first babies come of age in 2008.”
These four exceptional stallions provide top bloodlines for any breeding operation and a variety of options for reiners with their eye on future success.
