It would have been better to wrestle Tim for it,” laughed Dell Hendricks after tying with Tim McQuay for the Derby Championship at the Cowboy Capital Classic, held in Stephenville, Texas March 9-12.

The two Million Dollar Riders scored 219.5 aboard their respective mounts.

Tim McQuay was riding Dunitinthe Nicoftime, owned by Jerry Kimmel and Dell rode Escalante Chic, owned by Doug Adair’s Adair Reiners, LLC.

Escalante Chic is bay mare by Chic Please out of Spanish Dun It, a daughter of Hollywood Dun It and Dell’s father, Jim, raised her.

“She had her best run for me at Stephenville. I like her. I’ve trained her all along and she was a finalist at the Congress Futurity, then she lost a slider in the turnaround during the second go of the NRHA Futurity and it cost her making the finals.”

Both Hendricks and McQuay were complimentary about the event. Dell noted, “The Lone Star Arena is a great place to show and the staff there went all out to accommodate the reiners.”
